Meet Olle, The Meepo Board rider of the month in July 2019

Olle riding the board

“My name is Olle and I live in a small town called Hässleholm in the south of Sweden. It’s about 130 kilometres from Copenhagen, Denmark. Right now I am working at a supermarket but I’m hoping to get in to university this fall to study criminology.”

  1. Olle, how did you first hear about Meepo?
I first heard about Meepo through a friend who got his board while living in Australia last fall. He had told me that he had gotten an electric longboard but back then I didn’t actually think much of it.
  2. Describe your first ride.
So there are kind of two first rides for me. The first one was pretty short. My friend who lived in Australia got home this spring and he entered the Meepo Spring Competition. He wanted me to ride his board while he filmed so I did it. At first it was pretty scary, I have longboarded and skateboarded a lot in my days so I know the accidents that can happen if you’re not careful. So for me, riding a motor skateboard seemed kind of crazy at first. But we filmed the shots and I got pretty used to it. Actually I got more than used to it, I really loved the idea of electric skateboards and decided to order my own board. I looked all over the internet for all kind of different boards but I landed on the Meepo V2 because it seemed to give most bang for the buck. So I ordered it and only 2 weeks later it arrived here in Sweden.During the first couple of days I didn’t wanna ride it because rain was just constantly pouring down.A few days later the weather was better and I went for my first ride on my own Meepo and it was just awesome. The feeling that I could go around on this thing for around 18 kilometres was just crazy and it was also so much more fun than I had expected. And the thing is I still get this incredible every single time I ride my Meepo, it’s like I simply can’t get tired of it. It’s just too fun!
  3. What do you like most about your Meepo?
The freedom. To be able to just get on your board and go around to explore new places or to use it as your main vehicle to go visit your family or friends is awesome. It’s such a practical and fun vehicle to use and you can use it both for fun and for going places that you need to go to.
  4. Are you part of a local Meepo rider community?
No, I am not. Although I’m riding a lot with my friend who got me in to Meepo. And I also have another friend who tried my Meepo and decided to order a Meepo V3 so now we are three people riding our Meepos here but I’m hoping the number of people riding will increase.
  5. Do you use your electric skateboard for commuting or for leisure travel?

Both. I use it almost anywhere that I need to go if it’s not so far that I need a car. And I use it almost every day to just go around and discover new places and and just take in the beautiful landscapes. Summer here in Sweden is very short so the Meepo is a really great way of making the most of the summer.
  6. What tip would you give to new riders?
Be safe! Take your time to really get used to the board and it’s different speeds. Also if you haven’t ridden skateboards or longboards before, learn to footbrake. Meepo has really reliable brakes, I have never had problems with mine and I haven’t heard of anybody who has but after all it’s an electric skateboard and footbraking is the best alternative if something were to happen to your brakes. And of course, have fun!
  7. How do you envision electric skateboards in 2020?
Almost the same as now, but maybe a little bit more polished. What I mean by this is that they will be smoother and they will probably be able to go a little bit further. In the long run I also expect expensive companies to make their boards cheaper since brands like Meepo are providing cheap, very good boards.

Thanks so much for your time, Olle! Ride safe!
