Upgrading an electric skateboard is all about enhancing different components to improve its performance, functionality, and sometimes even appearance. You don’t have to buy a brand new skateboard; you can modify your existing skateboard by replacing certain parts with more advanced or higher-quality alternatives. Before upgrading, clarify your goals:

Increase speed/torque (upgrade motor, ESC)

Upgrade the Battery of Electric Skateboard

The battery is one of the core components of an electric skateboard, and upgrading it can significantly improve the range and power performance.

Higher capacity battery: Choose a larger capacity battery pack (such as upgrading from 4Ah to 8Ah) for a longer battery life.

Higher voltage battery: Upgrading to a higher voltage (such as upgrading from 10S to 12S) can increase speed and torque.

Battery type: Consider using a higher-performance battery, such as lithium polymer (LiPo) or lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, which have higher energy density and better discharge performance.

Note: When replacing batteries, ensure compatibility with the controller and motor to avoid overloading or damaging the device.

Replace the Motor

The motor directly affects the power and speed of the electric skateboard. Upgrading the motor can improve performance.

Higher power motor: Choosing a higher power motor (such as upgrading from 1000W to 2000W) can increase speed and climbing ability.

Dual motor configuration: If it currently has a single motor, consider upgrading to dual motors for stronger power and better balance.

The material and design of the skateboard affect its comfort and control. Longer or wider skateboards can provide better stability and more foot space. Among board materials, bamboo or composite skateboards offer better shock absorption.
